What Vacation Really Costs

As a business coach, I am often asked, "what does it cost to give employees a paid day off like Memorial Day?" The simple answer realistically, might be "lots." I'll often use the old accounting term, "it depends." Employers need to look at both Costs and Benefits. Costs are usually easy; benefits are often softer - like morale, turnover, and image. The sign on the grocery store saying "We are closed today so our employees can be with their families," speaks volumes and builds customer loyalty.

What Vacation Can Mean to Sales

Don’t we all look forward to that week away. Whether it is the trip to the beach or the drive to the cabin, the pleasure of these journeys can be dimmed in that first week back at work. There is nothing worse than an appointment book that shows no appointments. Set yourself up before you leave for your break by spending a little extra time scheduling appointments for the week you return. Being able to jump right in, will keep your energy stores at a high and your vacations memories bright.
