{"id":2636,"date":"2014-03-03T07:33:54","date_gmt":"2014-03-03T12:33:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.changinglanes.biz\/?p=2636"},"modified":"2014-03-03T09:18:16","modified_gmt":"2014-03-03T14:18:16","slug":"delegation-makeover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.changinglanes.biz\/index.php\/2014\/03\/03\/delegation-makeover\/","title":{"rendered":"Delegation Makeover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.changinglanes.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Postcard_Vertical.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2640\" alt=\"Postcard_Vertical\" src=\"http:\/\/www.changinglanes.biz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Postcard_Vertical-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Monday morning, again.\u00a0 Here are just two things you can start doing this Monday that will make you more productive.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inc.com\">INC Magazine<\/a>, one of my favorites, had a great article on the nine things to help you be more productive from tips they&#8217;d gleaned from some of the most productive.\u00a0 Most were obvious or in my view not worth delegating.\u00a0 And that is the key &#8211; delegate.<\/p>\n<p>The most productive people know three things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What they are good at doing,<\/li>\n<li>What they don&#8217;t enjoy doing and<\/li>\n<li>What they take too long to do.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That said above, how can you be more productive right now, today, this week?\u00a0 Delegate.\u00a0 Many bemoan the fact that they are just one person or a very small office where everyone is stretched to the max and as owner or manager you have to pick up slack.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Administrative Work.<\/strong>\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t have an administrative assistant, get one.\u00a0 Your budget won&#8217;t allow it?\u00a0 Pay for it out of your personal checkbook.\u00a0 Sounds radical?\u00a0 If you could free up one hour at work, what could you get done to reach your goals?\u00a0 If a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.finding-time.com\/\">Virtual Assistant<\/a>\u00a0costs you $35\/hour and this would give you the time to do ______________; isn&#8217;t that worth it?\u00a0 The economic opportunity you miss while typing a letter to a vendor may be much greater than $35.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Procrastination<\/strong>.\u00a0 Yes, we all procrastinate and sometimes that work needs to be done for real.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Think your tax return.\u00a0 If you are still doing your own tax return, stop it, get to a professional.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Did you just come across an old &#8220;To-Do&#8221; list that is still undone?\u00a0 Passing that off to someone else will give you closure, them a job and your business a chance to move forward instead of just treading water.\u00a0 Doing someone else&#8217;s job is like stealing Karma &#8211; you just don&#8217;t want to do that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Take a look at your &#8220;To-Do&#8221; list for this week and really identify what you could delegate.
