the Wrap Process"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chip and Dan Heath have come out with another outstanding book:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0307956393\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0307956393&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=fayerweathercons\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 And who doesn&#8217;t want to make better choices?\u00a0 The Heath Brothers present many examples of how we, as humans, don&#8217;t often get it right.\u00a0 We have common decision-making biases.\u00a0 For example, once we believe an idea is the best, we will practice <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Confirmation_bias\">confirmation bias<\/a>.\u00a0 This means we will look for support for our decision, not the pros and the cons.\u00a0 Francis Bacon (1561-1626)\u00a0 and others through out history have noted that as humans we have a tendency to confirm what we want to believe or hangout with people that believe what we do.\u00a0 We will go out of our way to look for evidence that confirms our ideas and avoid evidence that would contradict them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Heath Brothers have boiled it down to the WRAP Process:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Widen<\/strong> Your Options.\u00a0 If the answer is do this or do that, your options are really just yes or no.\u00a0 Think:\u00a0 what if I did that and this?\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>R<\/strong>eality-Test Your Assumptions.\u00a0 Sparking constructive disagreement, consider the opposite, take challenges and make mistakes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A<\/strong>ttain Distance.\u00a0 Short term emotions often make bad long term decisions.\u00a0 Ask what would your successor do?\u00a0 Use the 10\/10\/10 process.\u00a0 One example of the this would be how will you feel in 10 minutes; 10 days; 10 weeks?\u00a0 Or 10 days\/10 months\/10 years?\u00a0 It is <em><\/em>important at this point to know your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><em>core priorities.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>P<\/strong>repare to be Wrong.\u00a0 Mentally run your idea and see what it will look like in the future.\u00a0 Set up some mental tripwires.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This book is worthy of your time and do check out your local library . . . mine had it in audio and ebook.\u00a0 Decisive is just that &#8211;
