Often we only think of this holiday as an end of summer. Celebrate today the 364 days you work and help make the world economy revolve. Yes, we are the world &#8211; each worker of the world helps make every other workers&#8217; life better. If you work, have worked or will work, this day is for you!<\/p>\n<p><strong>They Earned the Right<\/strong><br \/>\nI knew Ket and Knudsen, Zeller, Zeder and Breer.<br \/>\nI knew Henry Ford back yonder as a lightplant engineer.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m a knew-&#8217;em-when companion who frequently recalls<br \/>\nThat none of the those big brothers were too proud for overalls.<\/p>\n<p>All the Fishers, all the leaders, all the motion pioneers<br \/>\nWorked at molds or lathes or benches at the start of their careers.<br \/>\nChrysler, Keller, Nash and others whom I could but now won&#8217;t name<br \/>\nHad no high-falutin&#8217; notion ease and softness led to fame.<\/p>\n<p>They had work to do and did it. Did it bravely, did it right,<br \/>\nNever thinking it important that their collars should be white.<br \/>\nNever counted hours of labor, never wished their tasks to cease,<br \/>\nAnd for years their two companions were those brothers, dirt and grease.<\/p>\n<p>Boy, this verse is fact, not fiction, all the fellows I have named<br \/>\nWorked for years for wages and were never once ashamed.<br \/>\nDirt and grease were their companions, better friends than linen white;<br \/>\nBetter friends than ease and softness, golf or dancing every night.<\/p>\n<p>Now in evening clothes you see them in the nation&#8217;s banquet halls.<br \/>\nBut they earned the right to be there, years ago, in overalls.<br \/>\n&#8211;<br \/>\nBy Edgar A.
